NSW Smart and Skilled Funding

Masters in Building Training Pty Ltd (registered provider 40666) has been approved to deliver training subsidised by the NSW Government.

Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It’s helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers

Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:

  • an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III
  • government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

If you’re a prospective student, the Smart and Skilled website will tell you everything you need to know about Smart and Skilled before you enrol with MiBT.  However, we welcome any enquiries or questions by calling us on the number below.

You can determine your eligibility for Smart and Skilled training in the Eligibility Checker. You can then find the right building and construction course and get an estimate of your course fee, in the Course Finder.

Everyone undertaking a nationally-recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualification in Australia needs a unique student identifier (USI).

A USI is like an account number with 10 numbers and letters. It looks something like this: 3AW88YH9U5.

It allows you to access a transcript of records for all the vocational education and training qualifications that you achieve from 1 January 2015 onwards. This is useful if you’re asked to provide your training records when applying for a job or enrolling in other courses.

You only need one USI, and it’s yours for life.

Under Smart and Skilled, you need to give your USI to MiBT when you enrol in your Smart and Skilled course.

As part of MiBT’s enrolment process we will ask you to provide us with your USI prior to commencing training.  This enables the NSW Government to view your training profile to validate your eligibility for Smart and Skilled training and your fees.

You will have to go to your USI account at the USI Registry to do this.

If you don’t have a USI, it’s easy!

You can apply to obtain your USI online by following the steps outlined in the USI website. Alternatively, you can ask MiBT to assist you obtain one.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) students, students with disabilities and their dependants may qualify for fee exemptions when they enrol in Smart and Skilled training.

Students receiving Australian Government welfare benefits and the dependants of Australian Government welfare recipients may qualify for concession fees when they enrol in Smart and Skilled training.
